BACKGROUND GUIDE
Letter from the chairs:

Dear Delegates,

Welcome to the SPECPOL committee of VIMUNC XII. My name is Shiv Papneja, a junior at Langley High School, and I will be your co-chair for this committee. I look forward to hearing all of your thorough and interesting solutions as we embark on a journey to work through a very prominent issue in some parts of the world. Although the solutions to this topic can be extremely meticulous, I look forward to seeing the diplomacy and confidence throughout you all during the committee, as they too are extremely important. I encourage all delegates to actively participate in this committee. I am looking to see your best work. Your participation will build up your public speaking and critical thinking skills, which can be utilized in other facets of your life. I hope that you are determined to work with an open mind to all points of view, background knowledge, and a well researched proposed resolution. While different delegations in this committee may have conflicting opinions about each topic, it is crucial that as a representation of your respective country, you utilize diplomacy to break these barriers and reach a final resolution.
Sincerely,
Shiv Papneja
