Chairs: Salma Qureshi and Ananda Abeysekera
|
Hello delegates, my name is Ananda Abeysekera! I am excited to be your co-chair for this committee. This is my third year doing MUN, having started in 7th grade, and I have had very fun memories of MUN. MUN really develops your skills in leadership and perseverance, and I urge you to continue doing MUN. When I am not doing MUN, I enjoy reading, playing the violin, grinding quiz bowl packets, or learning about STEM topics. I also love food, so feel free to tell me your favorite food dish you have!
I want this committee to be a fun and interesting committee that addresses the most crucial points that we face today. This committee touches problems that we, the future generation, faces, and I want to see refreshing and interesting solutions to address these problems. Whether you are new to MUN or are a seasoned veteran, I want everyone to feel welcome to share ideas and collaborate among your peers. I want to see everyone enjoy the conference and learn from this experience. But do not forget: have fun at VIMUNC! Good luck to all delegates and see you on March 7th! |
Hey delegates! My name is Salma Qureshi, and I am so excited to be your chair for this committee. I have been involved in MUN since middle school, and throughout the years, it has helped me grow not only as a speaker and leader but also as a listener and collaborator. Through MUN, I’ve learned how understanding diverse perspectives and staying composed under pressure leads to stronger dialogue and growth.
I truly value creativity, teamwork, and diplomacy, and I’m especially excited to see thoughtful research being put into action through engaging debate and well-developed resolutions. Outside of MUN, I am a Varsity debater and a member of the Ethics Bowl team, so I greatly appreciate respectful, insightful, and solution-oriented dialogue, even when opinions differ. I believe the best committees are those where delegates challenge each other intellectually while maintaining a positive, supportive atmosphere. Beyond academics, I play two instruments, am a junior black belt, and love spicy food! I want this conference to be a comfortable and welcoming environment where everyone feels encouraged to participate, take risks, and grow. Whether this is your first conference or your tenth, I hope you feel confident sharing your ideas and pushing yourself outside your comfort zone. Above all, I want each of you to enjoy the experience, improve your skills, and leave this committee feeling more confident in your voice. If any questions arise, please don’t hesitate to email me at [email protected]. |
